Anxiety
Anxiety

Anxiety is a common issue that many people experience, often manifesting as persistent worry, fear, or a sense of unease that can interfere with daily life.  It can present in various forms, such as generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, specific phobias or even intrusive thoughts.  The physical and emotional toll of anxiety can affect relationships, work and overall well-being, leading to feelings of overwhelm and a sense of being stuck.

In my practice, I have extensive experience working with clients who face anxiety.  I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore the underlying causes of your anxiety and develop practical coping strategies.  I will work with you in whatever way you feel comfortable.  We could explore what is going on for you and how that impacts your life, or we could take a solely solution-focused approach, looking at tools and techniques to manage your feelings.  An example of how I could work with anxiety is by integrating Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I can give you space to explore and understand what is going on for you.  Then, with this understanding, reframe anxious thoughts while supporting you to manage symptoms effectively.  Together, we will work towards reducing the impact of anxiety on your life, empowering you to regain control and build resilience.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process and will work in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.

Depression
Depression

Depression can affect anyone, often creating feelings of deep sadness, hopelessness, or a lack of motivation that lasts for weeks, months or even longer.  It may impact daily activities, relationships, work, and self-esteem, making it difficult for you to enjoy life as you once did.  Depression can also affect sleep patterns, appetite, and energy levels, contributing to a cycle of negativity and withdrawal.

There is no single cause for depression.  Therefore, in my practice, I offer support to clients struggling with depression by providing a compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore the complicated thoughts, feelings and behaviours that can come up around depression.  I work in whatever way a client needs to process their emotions and identify unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaving that contribute to their low mood.  Through our work together, we can develop practical tools to challenge negative thoughts, improve coping strategies, and work towards a renewed sense of purpose and well-being.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process. I will work in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

Stress
Stress

Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can take a toll on both mental and physical health and well-being.  Whether caused by work pressures, personal relationships, or life changes, chronic stress can lead to burnout, anxiety, and even physical symptoms like headaches or fatigue.  It can also make it difficult for people to concentrate or relax.

In my practice, I work with clients to explore the source of their stress and develop effective coping strategies.  I will also help you identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that contribute to stress.  Together, we'll create a plan to help you manage stress more effectively and restore balance in your life.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process and will work in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.

Relationship Issues
Relationship Issues

Relationships are a central part of our lives but can also be a significant source of conflict, frustration, or emotional pain. Relationship issues can affect your overall happiness and well-being, whether you're struggling with communication, trust, intimacy or attachment styles.  It may feel difficult to navigate these challenges alone, and you might be unsure how to move forward.

In my practice, we can work together to explore and understand the dynamics of your relationships causing concern.  We can identify unhelpful patterns, improve communication, and address the emotional aspects of your relationships.  Together, we'll work on building healthier, more fulfilling connections with those around you.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process and will work in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

Grief and Loss
Grief and Loss

Grief is a deeply personal experience that can arise after the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job or even a significant life change such as navigating an illness.  It may involve feelings of sadness, anger, guilt or numbness, and the grieving process is different for everyone.  There is no right or wrong way to feel within this grieving process.  It can be overwhelming to face such emotions, especially if they impact your ability to function day to day.

I offer a compassionate space for clients to explore their grief and loss, allowing you to express your feelings openly and withour judgement.  I can help you make sense of your emotions, develop healthier coping mechanisms and work towards finding peace with your loss.  I work with each client individually, so I will let you guide the process and work in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

Childhood Trauma and Sexual Abuse
Childhood Trauma and Sexual Abuse

Childhood trauma and sexual abuse can leave deep emotional scars that affect many aspects of life, from self-esteem to relationships.  The impact of these experiences may manifest as anxiety, depression, or difficulty trusting in others.  They can also manifest in deep-rooted negative self-beliefs, such as "I'm not good enough", resulting from those negative past experiences.  It can feel isolating and overwhelming, but healing is possible with the proper support.

In my practice, I create a safe and empathic space where clients can begin to process and heal from past traumas.  We can gently explore any aspect of your experiences, helping you understand and reframe them.  Together, we'll work on building resilience and regaining a sense of empowerment.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process and will work in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

Menopause
Menopause

Menopause is a natural part of life, but the physical and emotional changes it brings can be challenging to navigate.  Fluctuating hormones can lead to symptoms like hot flashes/flushes, mood swings, and difficulty concentrating, which may affect your work, relationships, and self-esteem.  Many women feel misunderstood or unsupported during this life change.

With both personal and professional experience in this area, I provide a space where you can talk openly about the emotional impact of menopause and peri-menopause.  I can support you in managing the emotional and cognitive aspects of menopause, helping you to regain control and adapt to this new phase of life with confidence.  I work with each client individually, so I let you guide the process and will work in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.
