My Approach

Seeking help from a professional can seem daunting and confusing as there are many different counselling theories and approaches to choose from.  There are many factors to be mindful of when selecting the counselling style to go for.  Consider choosing a style that resonates with you, that you understand, and that you feel you may benefit from.  Research and client testimonials show that the most influential factor in therapy is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist.  If you feel heard, understood and respected by your counsellor, you are more likely to benefit from the work done within sessions. 

Within my practice, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, professional and confidential environment where you can explore whatever you need.  By exploring these issues, we can understand what is happening and why.  This process assists in self-understanding which then boosts self-compassion when we start to understand ourselves.

With this knowledge, you become empowered to make the necessary changes needed in your life to address whatever has been causing you discomfort. 

 I offer a free initial 20-minute consultation by either telephone or video call. If we decide to work together, we can either meet face to face, by video call or over the phone.  The initial consultation allows you to meet with me so we can explore the potential help I could offer and the most suitable approach to take.  It also gives you the opportunity to meet me and to feel out whether you feel comfortable with me.  Should you wish to start therapy, I will arrange an appointment that is convenient for you.  Therapy can be undertaken weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad-hoc, depending on your needs.  However, therapy is initially best when carried out every one to two weeks, then the frequency is extended as the work continues.
